5 July Return Flights from Scotland for under £50

This is the first time in a long time I’m writing one of these posts, but I think there’s no better time to publish it than in summer when so many people are waiting until the last minute to book trips. The flights on this list are from both from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports and all (bar one) come in at under £50 for the round trip.

  1. Girona, Spain: Known for its Medieval architecture, lakes and rivers. If you’re looking for a base to travel around Catalonia, or to cross the border into France to visit the French Riviera, Girona is the perfect pit stop. It’s only marginally out with the budget of this post with return flights costing from £51. If you’re looking to travel on a budget, not only are flights this summer cheap but a 4 star hotel can be booked from as little as £58 per night.Girona
  2. Hamburg, Germany: Often overlooked by tourists in favor of Berlin, Hamburg is a canal city in Northern Germany with convenient transport links to Denmark and the Netherlands. There are tons of museums, walking and cycling and tours and from what I’ve read online it’s basically a German Amsterdam. Return flights from Edinburgh begin at £38.Hamburg-city-center-with-town-hall-and-Alster-river_XXL-870x400.jpg
  3. Luxembourg City, Luxembourg: This is the first time this flight route has been included in any of the posts I’ve published, so if you’re looking to visit somewhere new and more off the typical Central European beaten path this could be the place for you. All throughout July you can fly return from Edinburgh to Luxembourg from as little as £38. The capital city is steeped in history and is packed with castles, picturesque mountains and places to eat and drink. As well as this, one of the best things about Luxembourg is that it’s surrounded by other countries, and its minuscule size means using it as a base to travel to more expensive cities in those surrounding countries is a great solution. If this is something you’d consider, you can read my post on how to travel Central Europe on a budget, here. 3_7_luxembourg_02.jpg
  4. Eindhoven, Netherlands: If you’re even remotely interested in art or fashion, Eindhoven is a melting pot of the two and one of the most culturally rich cities in the whole of Europe. Festivals upon festivals are held here celebrating the arts and the city is a great way to be able to visit Amsterdam but still travel on a budget Buses between the two cities cost from £6 each way and the train around £17. If Amsterdam isn’t your scene it’s a great way to experience Dutch and Flemish art and architecture, and return flights from Edinburgh start at £44.65630_fullimage_glow1-2017.jpg
  5. Brussels, Belgium: Brussels is, for me at least, a European city that you have to visit at least once. Not only is there incredible architecture, but there is some really good shopping areas as well as plenty of great bars and restaurants. Brussels also has train links to Paris, Amsterdam and other Belgian cities like Ghent and Antwerp that are all just a few hours away – you can read my post on cities nearby and how much it costs to travel to them by clicking here. Return flights cost just £46 from Edinburgh, and if you book early enough in the month you’ll be able to catch the Christmas markets. I also have a hotel recommendation for an apartment right beside the city’s main square on my blog which you can read here.img_2753

All of these flights and prices were found at Skyscanner.com on 10/6/19. If you need a hand understanding how to use Skyscanner, you can read my full guide here.
